I've taken an interest in self development for about the last five years without really diving into the material or disciplining myself to follow the principles I'd read or listen to from the library and online sources. However I did write a lot of notes, partially because I figured writing it down would drill it into my head and plus I would have reference to returned to later. Most of the knowledge was gold but I was not very well organised so I gathered the scattered notes into one complete and colour coded folder, which had worked....for a time.
The combination of a cheap folder falling apart, messy handwriting, along with piles of paper building up lead me to the idea of creating a permanent non psychical blog (it is 2014 afterall) an online resource chronicle for my own reference purposes and journaling but also a potential source of value to others who would see it on the internet, that's the hope anyhow.
I had peronally started my self development journey because I felt that I wasn't living life to the fullest or getting the most out of it, as I write this in my mid 20s still with that feeling, unemployed and living with parents in their rural home it's not difficult to see why. I had left my home before to study, get work, see the world and build a successfull life but I had returned education complete, debt with it, unable to find work, sustain living costs and more unsure than ever of what I wanted for my future. Grateful for the roof, room and family time and wanting to do more for them, myself and others with a big gut feeling knowing that it's time for a change, to right my wrongs, get out again and find the full life I yearn to live and reach my full potential so that I have more to giveback and add value to the lives of others.
The real question is, so what do I do now? where do I start? Well for one - this blog, that will hopefully keep me accountable to meeting my goals and finding new material to share from the world of self development, pooled from podcasts, articles, books, videos and websites.
The blog alas, just like my old folder has shown me isn't enough to make a real change, words and info are just that, too much study and information often leads to analysis paralysis, so real measurable action will also be included here to journal my own progress and what effective use I have made of the self help material.
It is my hope to show some real progression of my own through pics, diagrams and examples of how I've used the research material to develop my own dream life into a successful reality.
I have broken down the subjects/area of study into six main groups with the journal as a central chronicle.
These groups came from what notes I had compiled and structured into related groups, as some may cross over or vary I'll try to keep things simple, flexible and to the point.
- Creative (Artistic, Design, Right Brain, Expression, Content Output, Passion).
- Economic (Business, Financial, Entrepreneurship, Value Production, Assets).
- Mind (Focus, Strategies, Thoughts, Mindsets, Daily Rituals, Habits, Mentality).
- Health (Food, Nutrition, Physical Exercise and Play, Strength, Sleep Hydration).
- People (Communication, Public Speaking, Social Interaction, Peer Groups).
- Base (Empowering Environment, Efficient Tech, Logistics, Skill Sets, Experience)
I want to keep this blog simple and somewhat brief by cutting to the chase but also fun and flexible with content and material. As for the information or sources I share I may not agree with all points or opinions shared here but if I feel it is important, relevant or effective I will look into it and write about it, I am not an expert nor a coach, my aim is not to give personal advice but put out there what I've found to be of value, whether thats simple tips or empowering food for thought, I will leave that up to the reader.
To keep things less serious and formal all the time, I may share motivational memes, educational cartoons or inspiring music. Some things will be practical and straight forward where as other bits may be more deeper or even esoteric at times but it is my hope that this full life folder lives up to these wishes and ultimately serves myself and others to live life to the fullest.
